Easy Dollar Tree Fall Leaf Wall Art
In keeping with the leaf theme of my super simple Dollar Tree leaf centerpiece and how much fun I had at Dollar Tree, I had to make something else with the same leaves. But even before I found the leaves, I bought a package with three metal words from the fall craft section. This is the perfect project to combine them!
Everything I used came from Dollar Tree, except for the glue gun/glue sticks and a last-minute addition of some beads when I realized I needed something to make the words stick out a bit. You could probably find beads at Dollar Tree, though, or else use something you already have on hand. More on that later.
Here’s everything I used:
- Charger plate
- Faux leaves
- Metal “Thankful”
- Small beads
- Glue gun/glue sticks
My Dollar Tree total was $3.75 for this project. I LOVE inexpensive projects!
The metal “Thankful” came from a package that also contained the words “Harvest” and “Welcome.” I’m sure I’ll find something to do with those as well—and “Welcome” doesn’t even have to be used in a fall craft!
I love the leaves at Dollar Tree. So many pretty colors and textures. Some packs have a few metallic leaves mixed in, and others have a few burlap leaves. I chose to use a little bit of everything for this project.
I found the charger plates in the kitchen section of Dollar Tree. I saw rose gold and silver at the store, but I see a lot more options online, so who knows what you could find at your store!
The first step was gluing on the leaves. I just wanted to cover the rim of the plate, so I only needed two rows of leaves.
Gluing on the word was a little more challenging. It’s just long enough that it wouldn’t lay flat on the middle of the plate, so I needed to raise it up a bit. Normally, I use some double-sided foam stickers that I have, but I couldn’t find them. In a pinch, I improvised with some little beads I had sitting out.
I flipped the word upside down and used my glue gun to attach the beads to the widest part of the word, making sure they were spaced out enough. Then I put more glue on the beads and placed the word where I wanted it. It worked perfectly! You can only see the beads if you look at it from the side.
If you don’t have beads or foam tape, you could really use anything. Tiny pieces of corrugated cardboard? Plastic fuse beads would work perfectly, too. You could even roll up little pieces of paper and use those.
I thought I might decide this needed something when I was done, but I don’t. I love it as-is.
Now I just need a place to hang it! I think I need to designate one spot on a wall somewhere to seasonal wall art that I can switch out. Something I’m pondering.
Happy fall crafting!
