Super Easy Halloween Sign
Today’s project is a truly super easy Halloween sign that you can make entirely from Dollar Tree materials! I think it goes well with my Halloween mesh tube wreath—also made entirely from Dollar Tree materials.
I recently designated a spot on my wall for seasonal decor, and I’m excited to make something for each season and holiday. This is my second piece for that spot, and I got it done just in time to put up with my Halloween decorations.
Dollar Tree has some really cute seasonal craft items, and I love seeing what I can find there. As soon as I saw the “Trick or Treat” sign, I knew I wanted to do something with it. I also purchased a pizza pan there, and that’s all I needed to buy.
I also used acrylic paint and paint supplies that I already had, but you could buy those at Dollar Tree if you needed to. Same with the glue gun and glue sticks I used.
Supplies:
- Unfinished wood sign
- Pizza pan
- Paint
- Paint supplies
- Glue gun/glue sticks
To start, I painted the pizza pan black. I would have spray-painted it, but the weather wouldn’t cooperate for me to paint outside. So I used acrylic paint and a foam brush. It took a few coats to get it completely covered, but eventually I got there.
It would have been easiest to paint the “Trick or Treat” one color, but I wanted it to be a bit more colorful. I stuck with the orange, green, purple, and black colors that make me think of Halloween. I originally painted the word “or” black, but I was afraid it wouldn’t stand out against the backdrop enough, so I “dirtied” it up a little with orange paint.
To attach the “Trick or Treat”, I used my glue gun.
Once I had it assembled, I felt like it was missing something. I considered using beads or something to line the rim of the pizza pan, but eventually I decided to keep it simple and do the same thing I did to the “or.” It made enough of a difference that I decided that was all it needed.
To hang the sign, I used Command Strips. I used them to hang anything I possibly can.
This is the perfect addition to my Halloween decor. I’m still accumulating Halloween decorations, so I keep brainstorming projects to take on next.
Happy crafting!
