Simple and Beautiful Valentine’s Day DIYs

Valentine’s Day decorations are some of my favorites to make, and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to come up with unique and beautiful but simple ideas. The materials I used for all of these projects are things I already had. Empty drink bottles, washi tape, paint, yarn, cardboard, cardstock, ribbon, etc. I can’t even express how much I love projects like that. My wallet approves, too.

LOVE Jar Vases

Of all of the jar vases I’ve made, I think this set is my favorite. I love the colors, and the vase fillers are adorable! This has nothing to do with Valentine’s Day, but they remind me of the Lorax every time I see them.

Yarn Heart Garland

I just love this garland. It’s so cozy and wintery, but also so pretty. It’s a great way to use up some yarn if you (like me) have extra skeins. If you don’t have the yarn on hand, you can use the least expensive kind you can find.

Felt Heart Garland

This is such a sweet and simple garland. The supply list is very minimal, and although I made a really small garland, this would look beautiful across a mantle or wherever else you might want to hang it.

Pom Pom Wreath

I originally made this wreath for the 4th of July, but since I didn’t attach the blue stars permanently, I realized I could change them out seasonally. Red and white is perfect for Valentine’s Day, especially with the addition of pink hearts!

HOME Sign Heart Wreath

I wanted a HOME sign for a long time, but without woodworking skills, I couldn’t make them the way I had seen them for sale all over the place. I figured out my own way to do it using picture frames, and I have loved changing out the O wreaths for every season. This felt heart wreath for Valentine’s Day is a sweet and simple project that I just love.

DIY Hanging Heart Strands

I added a little flair to my dining room chandelier using just cardstock hearts and fishing line. So simple, but so beautiful!

One last simple idea…

Put hearts everywhere! We have this picture holder on our wall that I use for different things throughout the year. During the winter holidays it holds the cards we receive. I LOVE seeing those, so it feels really bare when we take them down. I had a bunch of extra hearts this year, so I stuck those in there. So sweet! Even better would be hearts interspersed with family photos. I’ll work on that. But in the meantime, this makes me happy! You could stick some hearts on the fridge, or a door, or anywhere, really.

I’d love to see your Valentine’s Day decor. You can share with me on Instagram or Facebook if you’d like to.

Happy Valentine’s Day, and happy crafting!
