Happy Heart Centerpiece
This happy little heart centerpiece is a project that turned out even cuter than I imagined it would. I was originally inspired by a version that was much more organic and used actual sticks. It looked more like a little heart tree, and it was in a pretty vase. As you can see, this ended up being not that at all. And I love it! It goes really well with my LOVE jar vases.
I didn’t buy a single thing specifically for this. Just about everything I used was leftover from last year’s projects and came from Dollar Tree. I don’t even know where the dowels came from—I’d forgotten I even had them.
Here’s what I used:
- Jar (this was a large salsa jar)
- Dowels
- Paint
- Paint brush
- Hearts (felt/foam)
- Ribbon
- Glue gun/glue sticks
This really is a simple project. To paint the dowels, I used chalk paint that I had because I wanted to get even coverage in one coat if possible. Regular acrylic paint might have given the same result, but this did the job. I painted almost all of each dowel, and then dried them with a hair dryer. Once I was done with that, I painted the unfinished ends and put them in the jar to finish drying.
Each dowel has a different arrangement of hearts. I had both glitter and felt varieties, and I mixed and matched them as I went along. Some have two hearts; others have three. Depending on how I attached the hearts, I could make some look taller than others. The felt hearts are adhesive, so they were super easy to use. To attach the glitter hearts, I used my glue gun.
The ribbon has adhesive, so it was very easy to attach it to the jar. I just made sure to start each row in the same place so that the slightly messy ends are all together.
I added the heart at the last minute just because I felt like it.
That’s all there is to it!
Happy crafting!
