Easy Bunny Garland

Okay, how cute is this?! All the colorful little bunny butts. This is how I kicked off my Easter decorating this year. I wasn’t sure what kind of Easter garland I wanted to make at first, but I ultimately decided to keep it fairly simple and go with bunnies. Who doesn’t love bunnies?

All you really need for materials are some bunny images, cardstock (in one or multiple colors), pompoms, and a piece of string/ribbon.

There are plenty of bunny images online—both free and paid. You could find one bunny silhouette and use that, or you could do what I did and find three.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the bunnies, but of course you could use scissors instead. Armed with a new blade for my machine, I decided to use the glitter cardstock I love so much, and I was fairly successful. Some of the bunnies didn’t cut out all the way, but it was easy enough to pull them out (and trim a little excess paper off of them). When I was laying out my page in Silhouette Studio, I fit as many bunnies on it as I could. I knew I would end up with many more bunnies than I needed, but I figured that if they all came out well I’d just use them for something else.

One thing I did that helped a lot was add 1/8” holes to put the string through before I cut them out. I didn’t have to mess with a hole punch that way. I actually forgot to add the holes until after I’d cut the first page, but since I hadn’t removed the cutting mat yet, I was able to add the holes and send it back through; I just turned off all cut lines except for the holes.

Once I had the bunnies cut out, I used my hot glue gun to add little pompom tails. I used a generous amount of glue to secure each one, and they are holding well.

I used plain white string to hang the bunnies on. I cut a piece 8 feet long, figuring that would give me more than I needed. (It did.) To prevent the end from fraying, I wrapped it in a little piece of tape. Then I started stringing them in rainbow order.

This garland is so lightweight that it only took a little tape to hang it. I’m still tweaking the rest of my mantel decorations, but those bunny tails are adorable!

I only lost about three bunnies in the cutting process, so I plan to make another garland or two to hang in other places in the house.

Let me know if you make your own bunny garland!
